Badrinath Sight Seeing :

BADRINATH TEMPLE Badrinath temple, main attraction of Badrinath, was built by Adiguru Sri Shankaracharya in the 8th century. But, according to local folklore, the temple stands on an earlier temple rebuilt later by the Garhwal kings. The temple has three parts—the Garbhagriha (sanctum sanctorum), the sabha mandapam (where devotees assemble)and the darshan mandap (the place where prayers are held).

TAPT KUND Tapt Kund, a natural spring with curative properties, is believed to be the residence of Agni (the Hindu God of fire). The water is around 45°C. Pilgrims take a dip in the holy water of Tapt Kund before entering the temple.

SURYA KUND Surya Kund is one of the many hot water springs around the Tapt Kund. Numerous tourists and pilgrims visit Surya Kund annually. Narad Kund, a recess in the river near Tapt Kund, is the site where the idol of Badrinath was discovered.

NEELKANTH The towering Neelkanth peak, the backdrop of Badrinath, is encompassed on either side by the temples of Nar and Narayan. The two mountain ranges are just by the bank of the river Alaknanda. The ice-capped Neelkanth peak attract tourists every season.
